TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Prior to teaching I earned my undergraduate in Business and Spanish. I studied for a semester in Valencia, Spain and decided to obtain my Masters in teaching. During that time I completed my student teaching abroad at a British School in Alicante, Spain. I have taught Spanish 1 in a suburban middle school (7th and 8th grade) and Spanish 1-3 at an urban charter school (12th grade) since then. Additionally, I taught both a Spanish 2 high school class and an adult Spanish travel class at a local college. Through all of the placements, I have created 100% of my own lesson plans.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I very much believe in a multi-dimensional approach to teaching. I utilize real life stories / examples where possible, and I focus strongly on combining speaking, writing, reading, and listening as often as possible in students' every day situations. I work heavily in conversations and believe that all aspects of assignments should be WRITTEN IN the target language (not translated into English)

I am also a successful writer and businesswoman, utilizing my language ability for translating and daily business purposes. I believe Spanish is a necessary asset to today's youth and employed adults and that knowing more than one language greatly opens the mind and the way one interprets the world around himself or herself.
