I am a middle school special education teacher in the Chicago Public Schools system. My experience ranges from teaching students in inclusion, resource, and self-contained settings and working with children in grades 4 through 8. I am currently the lead teacher in a self-contained middle school classroom teaching students with autism and moderate cognitive impairments.
Lots of small groups and centers! My kiddos need lots of individualized attention and highly personalized curriculum, so I make/modify the majority of the materials that we use throughout the day.

The greatest day of my teaching career happened when another teacher on my team told me that my classroom looked like it was straight out of Pinterest. ;) (this is a joke...I was obviously super excited and flattered, but this is not the highlight of my teaching career)
