I am currently teaching first grade at a charter school in CT. I have had experiences in classrooms across grade levels from K-6th grade. In the past, I worked as a substitute teacher and as a teaching assistant with a focus on reading interventions. I am well versed in the demands of the Common Core, and I take those demands into account when creating lessons for my students.
Teaching is about reaching into the hearts and minds of each individual student within your classroom every year. It is about instilling within each child a love and eagerness to learn, and a willingness to explore new ideas. Lessons should not be lectured. Each lesson should be engaging, set within a meaningful context in which the students are not only gaining content knowledge, but are also creating connections.
