TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching art in multiple grade levels for the past five years. Currently I am an elementary art teacher, serving grades K-4 at two school buildings.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy teaching Art in a way that focuses on discovery and experience in favor of drills and technique centered pieces. Especially at the elementary level, I want all my students to have positive art making experiences that are meaningful and relevant to them.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received an award for excellence in teaching art to students with special needs in 2010 by the Rauchenberg foundation. I currently work on annual grants with my school through Arts in Stark, the county arts council which incorporate arts learning with other disciplines.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a BA in Art Education for Kent State University, and am currently working on a masters'. In my "free time", I also create hand dyed woven pieces, and different kinds of prints.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I enjoy making posters and infographics for my classroom that are fun and relevant to the students. I think that this is a way for me to share my art with them, and also for them to be more engaged in the classroom environment.
