I believe fervently in making education compatible with the needs and expectations of our students through the effective use of technology. I am also passionate about sharing experiences and good practice with colleagues, fellow teachers and educators.
In the classroom I endeavour to create a positive learning environment using teaching styles such as group work, class discussion through debate, use of audio and visual aids, and the use of the interactive white board with ‘smart notebook’ applications and also the use of the internet, all of which I have a sound knowledge and enthusiasm for using in my teaching practice. My teaching is flexible and is based upon the recognition of student’s needs, ensuring that all students, from the least to the most able, realise their full potential because every child matters. I have high expectations for every student and aim to create a safe and positive learning environment where the students are encouraged to express their opinions, and offer their individual or collective experiences to other pupils in order for every student to achieve. Positive comment has been made regarding the depths of my patience and skill in dealing with students.
My most humbling moment cam last year when a student presented me with a hand drawn cartoon as a thank you for the great year of History I had taught him and his class.
