TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught middle and high school mathematics in both urban and suburban settings since 2008. I have experience using SMART goals to guide my teaching. My lessons match with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). I have experience using Depth of Knowledge (DOK) to create lessons that will challenge my students. I have experience with Project Based Learning (PBL) and how it can show the students the relevance of the mathematics concepts.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am blessed to be able to teach with a SMART board and have each student with a chromebook. Because of this, I teach with technology as much as I can and set up my lessons so that students are utilizing technology to enhance their learning and relate the mathematics to real life. I teach with discovery in mind. With the use of scaffolding, I set up lessons so that students discover mathematics concepts as well as discover how the concepts are used in real life.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America and uphold all of their values.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold a BA in Secondary Education from Western Michigan University with a major in mathematics and a minor in history. I am certified to teach 6-12 mathematics (EX) and 6-12 history (CC).
