I am in my second year of teaching at Madison Southern High School in Berea, Kentucky. I have taught integrated science, which includes topics in biology, earth science, chemistry and physics. I currently teach the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Science courses which include Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions and Biomedical Innovations.
I facilitate student learning through project-based learning strategies. In my biomedical science courses and in my past integrated science classes I give the students opportunities to manipulate the content and make it their own. I have found that when students are able to relate the material to their life and/or take ownership of a product they have created, they are more successful and satisfied with their learning experiences.
I received the Mike's Kids Education Foundation Literacy Grant in November (2017).
I am a two-time graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Medical Sciences and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
