This year is my 3rd year teaching sixth grade Ancient History and World Cultures. Previously, I taught fourth grade reading, writing and language arts for a total of 6 years.
I consider myself a rigorous but fun teacher. I believe in finding literature and topics that truly interest students, and building units around those items. I constantly adjust my curriculum and teaching style to fit the needs of individual classes and students. This year, I am especially focusing on using technology in the classroom, since our school just implemented a 1 to 1 Chromebook program! A former (7-year!) camp counselor, I love the idea of whole brain learning, and use brain breaks, claps and call and responses in my classroom.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina, and received my Master's Degree and teaching license from the University of Cincinnati. I have also completed a state of Ohio Reading Endorsement and am a qualified reading specialist.
