I have over 9 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools. The second I started teaching art, I knew I had found my true calling. I am passionate about art education. I have seen first hand how art helps students build bridges between subjects and gives them an opportunity to deepen their learning in experiential ways. I reach out to collaborate with classroom teachers often to help support learning and to keep the art studio relevant for young artists. I encourage students to create with purpose, to work with excellent craftsmanship, and to commit to the creative process so that they can bring their visions to life for all to enjoy.
I am a friendly and down to earth teacher with a true passion for the arts. I challenge my students to do their best work, to become independent art makers, to find creative solutions to problems, and to work with purpose. I have three simple rules that I consistently refer to and review in order to build a welcoming, engaging and safe place for all artists to create. 1. Always Try Your Best 2. Respect others and the Studio 3. Take responsibility for your words and actions
I graduated with Honors from the Art Eduction Department at Skidmore College.
I double majored in Studio Art and K-12 Art Education at Skidmore College.
I am blessed to have two daughters and a loving husband to come home to each night. We all love being outside, and spend our free time running, hiking, biking, swimming, exploring, and creating!!
