40 plus years as a certified speech-language pathologist. Experience includes: public school, private school, home health adult and pediatric, out patient and in patient adult rehab, college university faculty instructor and university graduate program clinical supervisor. Most recently, in private practice in Kingwood Texas, primarily pediatric. Specialty areas: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, phonology, articulation, language disorders and delays, auditory processing , and stuttering.
I was part of the faculty full time in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at Stephen F. Austin State University for 9 years. I was awarded the Teaching Excellence award for this program in 2005. It was in this role that I learned I had a passion for mentoring students and later, young professionals.
A proud military brat (Air Force), I was privileged to have grown up in Texas, Germany, and California with college in Texas at then Southwest Texas State university and now Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. I am proud to have been trained by Empress Zedler in a solid language foundation for the treatment of articulation disorders, language disorders and language-learning disorders and phonics. I have additional certifications in the Speech EZ Apraxia Program and the Lidcombe Preschool Stuttering Program. I am also a certified provider of The Listening Program.
I am the proud mom of 3 grown daughters, who all live scattered around Texas. I have 8 wonderful grandchildren who are the stars in my life. I am a published quilt designer and still love to make quilts when I can. I love hunting antiques, reading, my book club and spending time with my family.
