MY TEACHING STYLE

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was part of the faculty full time in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at Stephen F. Austin State University for 9 years. I was awarded the Teaching Excellence award for this program in 2005. It was in this role that I learned I had a passion for mentoring students and later, young professionals.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

A proud military brat (Air Force), I was privileged to have grown up in Texas, Germany, and California with college in Texas at then Southwest Texas State university and now Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. I am proud to have been trained by Empress Zedler in a solid language foundation for the treatment of articulation disorders, language disorders and language-learning disorders and phonics. I have additional certifications in the Speech EZ Apraxia Program and the Lidcombe Preschool Stuttering Program. I am also a certified provider of The Listening Program.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the proud mom of 3 grown daughters, who all live scattered around Texas. I have 8 wonderful grandchildren who are the stars in my life. I am a published quilt designer and still love to make quilts when I can. I love hunting antiques, reading, my book club and spending time with my family.
