I have taught students from preschool to college. My experience is in co-op schools, lab schools training child development and education majors, special education and elementary education. During summer school programs I helped struggling learners catch up with supported lessons for ELL learners and fun units that promoted academic progress and self confidence. I have three grown sons who learned enrichment lessons through a summer homeschool during their summer break.
I like to think that my teaching style is that of the whole child, whole family, whole community. Having had the base of my career started in a co-op school at Stanford University, I found the "It takes a village" attitude a beautiful thing. Although it is my job in the classroom to teach the academic standards, I thrive to instill a sense of responsibility for family and community as well. You might see that the lessons I provide on this site have this theme. I hope teachers out there too will think out of the test score box, and we can help teach children to think globally and with a sense of purpose outside themselves.
The honor is when a child returns 10 years later and says, "You made a difference in my life because you cared about me that one day at recess........."
I have a master's in education, with a clear, CLAD credential
