I have taught music for 31 years and hold a degree in music education and a masters degree in Creative Arts in Learning and Curriculum Development. I have experience in K - college music education. I have also taught classes for Regis University in Creative Arts in Learning for Masters of Ed students. Currently I am working part time as a Notebook Software Trainer, teaching private lessons and mentoring younger teachers. I am also a composer, and my first choral piece, "Teach Me With a Song", inspired by the words of a student with autism, has recently been published by Carl Fischer/BriLee Music publishing : Teach Me With a Song by Sue McTigue

Though I have Orff and Kodaly training, I use an eclectic approach and integrate other art forms and academics into music teaching. Sue Boettcher-McTigue has been an elementary music educator for over 30 years. She recently retired from teaching grades K- 6 general music in Douglas County Public Schools in Castle Rock, Colorado where she was a teacher leader in the district. She currently teaches private music lessons, works part time as a Notebook Software/SMARTboard teacher trainer and is a published composer. It had been her dream for many years to find the time to write and publish children’s music, and specifically music that integrates academic concepts with music. She made this dream come true in 2011, and is now writing and composing new musical programs, music class activities, and other music for elementary age students, including her choral piece, Teach Me With a Song by Sue McTigue published by BriLee Music Publishing. The study of Rocks, the Rock Cycle and Earth Changes is currently part of the Colorado State Standards for Science Education for 3rd grade students. The songs and concepts presented in this musical program are sure to be exciting additions to any earth science curriculum. You can view her "Rock Concert!" website at: Rock Concert!
