TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a classroom teacher for more than 30 years. I'm currently awaiting the results of my National Board renewal (keep your fingers crossed for me!). Teaching is my passion, and I can't imagine doing anything else. I believe that teachers are stronger when we stick together. Sharing ideas, strategies, and materials is so important (thus the many freebies in my store).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have found that kids tend to thrive in a structured environment where they are accountable for the choices they make, good or bad, and where they are nudged in a positive direction. It's important that there is a culture of support from peers as well as school staff. I love seeing a student beat me to the punch in offering words of encouragement or praise. I want my kids to know that they have the power to make the world a better place. My students spend a great deal of time working with partners and in groups on a daily basis. Working as part of a team is such an important skill, and they learn so much as they discuss the topic at hand. I'm amazed by the close relationships they develop over the course of the year,
