Dr. Evangeline C. Aguirre is an expert in the field of English language teaching and learning. She has 25 years of successful classroom instruction, teacher mentoring, curriculum development, intervention program design and implementation, and teacher evaluation. She has received awards and recognition for her role in the academic progress of English language learners (ELLs). Additionally, she is National Board certified. Her extensive teaching experience here and abroad has given her the opportunity to assess and provide for the needs of ELLs. Dr. Aguirre is known for her innovative classroom programs and activities that promote exciting and challenging learning opportunities. Dr. Aguirre developed R.I.S.E., which is a leading edge instructional framework for blended Language Arts and Intensive Reading. R.I.S.E. is guided by the principles and pedagogies that support the holistic achievement of English language learners. It serves as a platform for effective instruction that promotes authentic literacy through systematic, meaningful, innovative, rigorous, and 21st century-adaptive learning experiences for English language learners (ELLs). R.I.S.E. provides equal opportunities for the learners to develop reading efficiency through the robust inclusion of the five foundations of reading: (a) phonemic awareness, (b) fluency, (c) phonics, (d) vocabulary, and comprehension.
