I am about to begin my 7th year of teaching high school social studies in North Carolina. I have experience teaching: Psychology, Sociology, U.S. History, World History, Law & Justice, and Current Affairs. I have a passion for working with new teachers and I have served as my school's lead mentor for the past 4 years. I also host teacher interns every Spring semester for the past 3 years.
Having taught six different subjects by my 2nd year of teaching, I developed a unique teaching style. I constantly seek lesson ideas and activities that can be manipulated to fit any subject. I am not a lecturer and I prefer to engage my students in something active. I like to incorporate many simulations, group activities, and projects into my daily lesson plans.
