TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a speech language pathologist for the New York City Department Of Education. I work in District 75 which is the special education district. I have worked for the past 6 years in a high school for students with developmental and emotional disabilities. Many of my students have severe cognitive impairments and I found it difficult to find age respectful materials that were on their developmental level. I have created many activities in order to teach to their needs and cognitive levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to teach my students the skills that they need to become as independent as possible once they graduate. All of my students are alternate assessment so the skills that I teach are almost exclusively vocational and life skills which I align to the Common Core Learning Standards.
