I was a substitute in a large, poor, diverse district for two years. I taught Spanish on a cart K-5. I taught 4th grade for a year, 5th for 6 years, and was an Instructional Specialist of a 6-8 building for three years. I am currently teaching 3rd grade and loving it.
My teaching style is firm, but loving. I build strong relationships with my students and teach them how to be responsible for their own learning. Student centered cooperative learning is what happens the most in my classroom, with short bursts of explicit teaching.
In college I was on the honor roll many semesters. As a teacher, I have been given accolades for test scores and behavior management every year.
I received my undergraduate, graduate, and masters degrees from Grand Valley State University. I majored in Social Studies with a minor in Spanish and elementary education. My masters is in Library Media Science.
