I am a certified Special Education teacher (k-12) with over 30 years’ experience teaching behaviorally disordered/ emotionally disturbed students. I work in a multi-grade environment with students who exhibit a wide range of learning, mental and emotional disabilities. I am dedicated to ensuring that children with special needs receive the best education possible by providing a diverse and stimulating environment that addresses all different types of learning.
I use an approach and style that allows for growth and development for all students. The most effective way to deal with difficult behaviors is to prevent them from happening. I believe in creating a classroom environment that reinforces positive behavior, stimulates attention and imagination and makes my expectations clear to the students. I use instructional and classroom management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.
I am qualified as an Expert teacher and serve as a teacher consultant to other Special Education and regular classroom teachers. I am also a Certified Inclusion Facilitator.
