I have been teaching for 7 years now. I started teaching 4th grade in the middle of a school year. My second year teaching I taught a class of "at-risk students". (Students that were at risk of failing.) After 3 years, I got my MaED with a concentration in Academically/Intellectually Gifted students (AIG). I taught AIG for one year, and found that my love was still in the classroom. I missed teaching a diverse group of children. I am now back to teaching 4th grade. I also work with our school's news cast.
I find that for some people I have a love it or hate it kind of teaching style. I find pride in my classroom management. I am very clear with my expectations, and what consequences will take place if they are not met. I am energetic, loud, and sarcastic. My best school years happen when I can find comic relief somewhere in my classroom.
Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) license MaED
I grew up in the school system that I currently teach. I received my undergrad and graduate degree from East Carolina University.
I also play Roller Derby. My roller derby name is Ivanna Skoolya. It is a great way to exercise, and it helps me relieve stress.
