TEACHING EXPERIENCE

The Symple Readers Company has a combined 18 years of experience in education. Loralene Edvalson served as a paraeducator at the Jr. High level for 3 years before receiving her Special Education License to teach students with Severe Disabilities, and has been teaching elementary students with severe disabilities for the past 9 years. Nathan Edvalson has served as a School Counselor for the past 6 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Direct Instruction and Discrete Trial Methods are used to explicitly teach students new content and to generalize previously mastered content.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in school counseling. Master's Degree in Special Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Master's Thesis: Effects of Integrated Curriculum on Expressive Vocabulary Development of Elementary Students with Developmental Disabilities, 2013. Coauthored an article in May, 2009, for the Utah Special Educator entitled: Communication First: A Comprehensive Literacy Approach for Students with Significant Disabilities.
