TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began my teaching career in 2005 and over the years have taught middle school and high school science courses. My middle school teaching experience includes Life Science and Earth Science. My high school experience includes Biology, Physical Science, and Project Lead the Way STEM/Engineering Courses. I have taught Biology in a 1:1 iPad classroom and currently teach Biology and Project Lead the Way in a 1:1 Chromebook classroom environment.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am fortunate enough to teach in a district that has a 1:1 technology device program. This program has allowed me to integrate vast technology resources into my curriculum. I strive to create a blended classroom environment in which my students do more independent learning and I become more of a facilitator/reference for my students. The goal is for students to transition from the passive learner mindset (“the teacher is responsible for what I learn”) to the ownership mindset (“I am responsible for what I learn or refuse to learn”).

While I have not received any specific awards related to education, within my district, I have led multiple professional development sessions related to technology and I am currently a leader in my district's technology professional development group.
