Since 2004, I have enjoyed working as a pediatric speech language pathologist. I have experience providing speech-language services for children in elementary school, middle school, early intervention, private practice, and outpatient rehabilitation settings. I currently work at an elementary school and private practice in the metro-Atlanta area serving students with articulation, receptive/expressive language, pragmatic language, and fluency disorders. Many of my students are children with specific learning disabilities, autism, and intellectual disabilities from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. I also provide consultative services for SLPs and teachers who desire solutions to enhance their ability to assess and provide instruction to improve the communication, language, and literacy skills of their students.
I strive to instill a love for learning while building effective communication, language, literacy, and social skills in my students. I believe that it's critical to show kids that you care about them because that is a foundation for their success. I also believe that speech-language therapy activities should be engaging, functional, differentiated, and educationally relevant. I teach my students multi-sensory, language, and memory strategies to help them learn and be successful beyond the speech language therapy room. I use lots of visual supports and evidence based practice in my therapy sessions. The majority of my products relate to the language underpinnings of the E/LA Common Core State Standards and critical language development skills. They include language, literacy, curriculum, and some play/routines based informal assessments and interventions.
