I teach at a national blue ribbon high school that has consistently been ranked in the top schools in my state, for thirty-three years. I have taught world history, U.S. history, current events, study skills, government, A.P.U.S. history and A.P.U.S. government. I recently created a class that combines A.P.U.S. history and A.P.U.S. government in an integrated class under block scheduling.
I utilize multiple methods to meet the needs of every child, especially emphasizing critical thinking exercises and college and career readiness. My curriculum builds knowledge, inquiry, collaboration and communication skills. My students range from learning disabled students to advanced placement and honors.
I graduated cum laude from Carroll University. I received the Phi Alpha Theta national paper contest award for my graduating year and had my original research published in an academic journal. I received the Brass Lamp Award for civic activism. I received the state VFW Citizenship Award. I received the national American Civic Education Teacher Award.
I graduated from Carroll University with degrees in secondary education, history and political science. I attained my masters in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University. I have 43 credits beyond my masters degree. I am Nationally Board Certified.
I teach both A.P.U.S. Government and A.P.U.S. History. I am an Educator Effectiveness Coach and the chair of the social studies department. I have been a member of the school learning team and the district learning team. I am a member of my state association's Quality Education Committee.
