I am in my seventh year of teacher and tenth in education. I began my teaching career in the beautiful city of Miami in a middle school located in the heart of Liberty City. More recently I worked at a national charter school as a founding literacy teacher. I am certified to teach elementary grades K-6, special education K-12, and middle grade literacy. My students consistently grew two years in reading and I love my role as an instructional coach. Bottom line about me is I LOVE TEACHING AND LEARNING.
I am a dynamic teacher that believes in URGENCY. There is not a moment to waste in my classroom and students know this. There is always a place for my "early finishers" to go if they need to push towards the next level.
I was a national semi-finalist for the Sue Lehman Award given to high performing beginning teachers. I was awarded "Rookie Teacher of Year."
I have my Bachelors and Masters in Special Education.
I love all thing related to teaching students from urban communities and teaching students to be lifelong readers :-)
