I tutored maths throughout my university days and then full time for 2 years after that. I went on to teach high school maths, science and biology for some years before my children came along and then I stayed at home and wrote educational materials for a publisher. I now homeschool my own children, tutor others and help administer the farming business.
I try to teach according to my students' learning styles rather than my own but I am generally a fan of multi-sensory, interactive, contextual learning. I strongly believe in constructavism and actively employ a concrete to abstract approach. I prioritize the development of critical thinking skills, problem solving strategies, a growth mindset and character qualities especially curiosity and perseverance.

I completed High School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and then went on to earn a B.Sc. degree followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). However, as a committed life long learner, I have quite possibly learnt more from my various experiences and informal studies than my formal ones and I continue to learn every day...
I am a qualified teacher turned farmer's wife and homeschool mom. I taught high school in a previous life but am now privileged enough to be homeschooling my wonderful kids on the world's most beautiful farm in the Southern Drakensberg Mountains of rural South Africa. I also tutor privately and help administer the family farming business.
