My name is Tanya Solano. I am in my eleventh year of teaching kindergarten. I graduated from Regis University with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, and my Master’s Degree in Education with a Literacy endorsement. I consider myself extremely lucky to have a career that I am so passionate about! Kindergarten children have a way of lighting up a room with imagination and curiosity, making my days brighter. How blessed I am to spend my days doing something that I love, and believe in!
Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning many new things each and every day. Our days, weeks, and months will be filled with so many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing. Be assured that I will do my best to provide a safe, caring and fun learning environment in which your child will be challenged to achieve their maximum potential as well as develop the key ingredient to success: SELF CONFIDENCE!! With goals as guidelines, a developmentally appropriate classroom and parental support, I believe your little one will embrace the joy of learning!! Here are a few of my strongest beliefs regarding educating children: I believe that every child is talented and capable of learning, and has unique gifts and strengths that should be celebrated. I believe that children need encouragement, consistency, clear expectations and healthy boundaries. I believe that by providing a comfortable and safe environment, children will feel empowered to take the risks involved in learning new things. I believe that a very big component of being a kindergarten teacher is helping students build self-esteem, confidence, and healthy social relationships. I believe that reading creates readers! I believe that learning should be hands-on, interactive, imaginative, integrated, and FUN!

My husband, Chris and I have been married for 20 years. He is wonderful and especially supportive of my classroom. We have a magnificent 15 year old son, Christopher. Although many of my students think that I live at school, I sincerely try not to. I try to live a balanced life, taking quality time for with family, friends, and myself. We are an avid soccer family and stay very busy with Christopher’s competitive traveling soccer team. I also enjoy gardening, music, going to the movies, and spending time with my niece and nephew. I am also a huge fan of Kiki, my cat, fresh veggies & fruit (especially blueberries), taking naps, singing out-loud, star-gazing, running, the color pink, bike rides, Jack Johnson, and chips & salsa. I am however, not a fan of cooking, negativity, laundry, black licorice, mushrooms, spiders or boats.
