I'm a 33+ year teaching veteran who is cheering you on from the sidelines. I recently retired and am missing my students like crazy! I've experienced both inner city and suburban settings. I taught first grade, Kindergarten, and K/1 multi-age. I have also spent half of my career as a reading intervention teacher, working with students who struggle in the areas of both reading. Early literacy and making learning engaging is my PASSION! No two years were ever the same for me! I guess that kept me on my toes. I stay connecting by creating hands on resources for you and your students to use in whole group, small group, and in literacy centers. They won't know they are learning as long as they are having a BLAST!
Regardless of whether a classroom teacher or an intervention teacher, I enjoyed making learning fun for children. Novelty and a variety of teaching techniques keep students interested and engaged. As an extremely organized individual, I pay particular attention to my environment and how it best functions for children. My students worked in whole group, small group, and individually on a regular basis. My times with students always were a balance of busy and subdued times to appeal to all learning styles. Activities were differentiated so all could achieve while participating. they are important to address that reality, we still must make learning fun, relevant, and meaningful for the long haul to ensure the result of getting students to love of reading and learning!
Yet to be added
I am a graduate of Miami University, Oxford Ohio where I received my BSEd in 1988. I received my MEd in Administration/Supervision in 1993 from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. I consider myself a lifelong learner and continue to participate in professional development on a regular basis. I I currently have an additional forty-five semester credits past my Masters. I taught for 33+ years and retired in March of 2021. Teaching in a pandemic was truly the craziest thing I have experienced in my whole career yet am cheering you on while you continue to roll with the punches and remain flexible.
You may be wondering why the cute Westie dog is on all of my products. It's a shout out to my two wonderful dogs! If you have never encountered a Westie, they are almost human. I half expect him to talk to me, and I've certainly had tons of conversations with him. With a twist of the head, they can just melt your heart.
