TEACHING EXPERIENCE

** Most products are made using a dyslexia friendly font. It is important to me to provide for students with dyslexia as well. Dyslexic friendly font is known to have a large base for each letter, wider spacing between letters within words, and wider spacing between words. **

I teach in a trilingual school on a First Nations reserve just outside Montreal, Canada. Being trilingual is very important to the community, and I do my best to be able to speak and use all 3 languages. I myself am bilingual (English and French). I also studied Spanish in high school, and Sanskrit in university. Now that my fiancee and school are Mohawk, I am doing my best to learn Mohawk as well. Learning languages is beneficial on so many levels academically and socially, I am so proud of my students for committing to becoming trilingual. I also understand the unique struggle of an immersion learner, spending all day in school not in your primary language. My work is geared specifically for second language learners and their challenges to grasp a new language.

Teaching assignments

year 1 : grade 5/6 English homeroom

year 2 : grade 5 French Immersion

year 3: grade 5/6 French Immersion

year 4: grade 6 French Immersion

MY TEACHING STYLE

hands-on, applied learning, team-based, discussion-oriented, problem solving ...

Sensitive to students with learning disabilities, primarily dyslexia.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Hello, I am a 4th year teacher from Montreal trying to provide fun, meaningful, learning opportunities for my students. Teaching is my passion! I started working with special needs students as a part-time job when I was 18 years old. And, after 6 years of wonderful work with children with autism I decided to dedicate the rest of my life to children's learning.

My students are trilingual: English as their home language, Mohawk (Kanien'keha) as their second language, and French as their third language. Our school has a strong focus on supporting and promoting Mohawk culture through language classes, school-wide and community-wide socials, and our new Tsi Niiowariho:ten curriculum (Mohawk integrated curriculum into all aspects of teaching).

In my personal life I am recently married to the love of my life, we have a beautiful french bulldog puppy, and are looking forward to starting our family. I really enjoy drinking tea: calms the mind, soothes the soul!
