I've been teaching for 21 years. Although I've primarily taught fifth grade math and science, I've also taught science to students in grades second through seventh.
Hands-on education is my primary method of teaching, however, vocabulary development and background is essential in the comprehension of the material. I've found that scaffolding is the key to success in the classroom in science and math. I've also found that integration of language arts into all math and science lessons helps to develop the whole student.
I've been lucky enough to be Teacher of the Year twice at my school. I was Student Teacher of the Year in college.
I graduated with honors from Cairo High School. I graduated with honors with a BA in Elementary Education from Winthrop University.
I feel I was born to teach and have a positive impact on students. Planning is not the most enjoyable part of my job, however, it is the easiest part for me. I love to create units in math and science that effectively support the state standards and common core. These units serve to deliver the content in a way that students comprehend and remember for LIFE!
