Having over a decade of elementary education teachingexperience at both 4th grade and kindergarten, I decided to "take it outside" and started a nature kindergarten in my district. The first year was an amazing success and now we are expanding the program in my school and district. I hope to share some tricks and tools so that all others will be inspired to let nature be a teacher for the whole child.
My room is the "loud" one and I wouldn't want it any other way. We sing. we dance, and we PLAY. I strongly believe in both play-based and nature-based education and I strive to bring elements of both to the traditional classroom. Student choice and personalized learning are core to my style, as I aim to reach my main goal for every child: a love of learning.
I received my National Board certification a few years back. I have also been recognized in my district for my work with our PBIS program and with my coordination of the nature kindergarten program.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a business degree before ultimately making the right choice and getting an Elementary Education degree and Masters from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.
Besides teaching, my wife and I are busy with our daughter, volunteering for the Ice Age Trail Alliance and Special Olympics, and enjoying sports, wrestling, and nature.
