I have had the wonderful opportunity to work these past 7 years in third grade at an amazing school with a fabulous team of third grade teachers. I love third graders! They are so enthusiastic and ready to learn... and they are hands-on, absolutely FUN! I am also an organizational freak and love to share my ideas, tips, and work with my fellow peers.
My favorite part of the teaching profession is definitely curriculum and planning. I love researching and putting together lessons that are standards based, hands-on, and utilize multiple intelligences and learning styles. I love watching my kids have that "Aha!" moment during a lesson or activity I have created. I use a lot of technology in my classroom when delivering lessons and keeping myself on track and organized with the day to day job of maintaining a classroom.
Over the past few years, I have been asked to provide professional development seminars within our school system on iPads in the Classroom, Creating SmartBoard Activities, Organizing Student Records, and The Organized Classroom.
Before going back to school to receive my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, I worked as an internal auditor and supervisor for a large investment company. My background as an auditor taught me that it is not only important to keep good records, but know how to quickly access those records. I use that philosophy in my classroom when organizing lesson plans, units of study, student assessments and behavior records. I believe that everyone has the ability to create an organized classroom that 100% fits their needs.
