I have been teaching French and Spanish for 15 years and I have spent 12 of those in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, teaching MYP and DP French and Spanish. I have worked in Spain, the Philippines, Hong Kong and for the past 4 years, I was the Head of World Languages at the Dwight School in NYC. I have now decided to leave Dwight to continue to lead workshops for the IB and independently, as well as to continue to consult for schools.
I truly believe that letting students discover the language, make connections and take risks is the only way to teach. I guide them to the rules and let them explore on their own. I think that conceptual understanding is much more valuable than content and I develop resources that encourage students to make discoveries.
