I have been teaching since 2004, both in New Zealand (Christchurch) and Australia (Sydney). In the past I have also run my own English website called 'Teachaidworksheets.com' for NZ and Australian English teachers. I love writing quality resources with an emphasis on Southern Hemisphere authors and content.
I love inquiry-based learning and any sort of experiential teaching that allows students to become attached and invested in what they do!
By teaching drama as an extra-curricular activity I was able to both direct and produce many large scale dramatic and musical productions with casts over 150 pupils. I have also been part of many successful Sheila Winn Shakespeare competitions.
I studied English and Classics at Canterbury University and achieved a Bachelor of Arts before moving onto Teachers College and achieving a Post Graduate Dip in Secondary Teaching (majoring in English and Classics).
As a born and bred Cantabrian, I have grown up with a love for the stunning NZ landscape. But with having two British parents, a lot of my childhood was spent in the U.K as well. Both countries hold a special place in my heart and my love for literature came early on through childhood favourites such as 'The Borrowers', 'Ballet Shoes' and 'The Famous Five'. Teaching runs in the blood. I am a fourth generation teacher and the moment I started teaching, I knew it was the profession for me! My role model is my grandmother, Renee Joy who was a headmistress at a very successful girls' school in Liverpool, England. Even though Renee is no longer with us, her grace, dignity and warm heart lives on through my own desire to teach to the best of my abilities. I try and create worksheets with love and care and I hope you enjoy using them in your classroom as much as I have enjoyed creating them!
