I have been teaching for 14 years and have absolutely loved it! I started by teaching three years in fifth grade. My third year, I taught all of the fifth grade math which was nice because math is the subject I am most passionate about. Then, our school lost a bunch of teachers due to budgeting, and I just had enough years to stay at my dream school - just in a different grade. I am now in third grade and love it just as much as I loved fifth grade (kids are kids). The best part about teaching is waking up and actually wanting to go to my job everyday!
Our 3rd grade team teaches, and I teach the math and science for one team. I love teaching science, but math is my absolute favorite. I love doing hands-on activities to build the concepts necessary for students to really "get" math - not tricks and procedures. I also think it is important to continuously spiral all of the math standards (at a certain point in the year). My favorite product is my morning work because it does just that! It is also my best seller, so it must also be other peoples' favorite product of mine too. Finally, I believe homework should be focused on what is currently being taught in class, short, and with examples. I love my "quick math" homework because it is precise but quick!
I have a lot of completed workshops, but I guess those aren't honors and awards!! I do consider the fact that I got my National Boards on my first try an honor - and a relief!!

I have a beautiful little girl who is six years old. It is amazing to watch her grow and develop. Although, she does make it a lot harder to create new products, I wouldn't trade her for the world!! I love to hike in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! I have lived here all of my life and have enjoyed it very much. I also love singing, Sprite, anything with chocolate and peanut butter together, and most sports - especially basketball.
