TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching since 2005! I have experience teaching first grade bilingual (1 year), middle school ESL in all grades and subjects (4 years), high school Spanish all grades and levels (4 years), and I am currently teaching online. I've been teaching online since 2016.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Two of my favorite things about teaching are the relationship building with the students and motivating them to succeed. How do I do that? By being patient, compassionate, humorous, and engaging. My classroom is a no judgement zone. I also use a lot of scaffolding, modeling and TPR. I always strive to teach kids skills they can use in the real world and try to incorporate those skills in my products.

I have a master's in education from DePaul University with a focus in secondary education and Spanish. My bachelor's is in Spanish from Loyola University Chicago. I have endorsements in ESL (K-12), middle school, Language Arts (5-8) and Social Studies (5-8).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My store name is Teacher Nikki - Nuggets of Knowledge because I love teaching nuggets that peak students' interest to the point that they can't wait to dive into the materials or the lesson. I love teaching kids how to think, not what to think. I love inspiring them with life stories about historical figures with information that's beyond the text book.
