I have taught in the public school for 22 years, which means I have taught in 2 different centuries, and I like this one best! I have taught in Madison, MO, Joplin, MO and now, Neosho, MO for 17 years. 6th grade self-contained, 6th and 7th Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies. The most experience I have is with 8th grade English Language Arts.
I currently teach 1:1 and am beginning to "flip" my instruction. I love this style best. I feel it gives the student more ownership in their learning.
Last year I was selected as "Certified Staff of the Month" in January. The district I teach in has about 300 certified teachers. I am also a new teacher mentor and enjoy this very much.
I graduated from Ozark Christian College in 1993 and from Missouri Southern State University in 1994. Joplin, Missouri. I am certified Elementary K-8 and Library Media Specialist.
I am a single mother of one beautiful 15 year old daughter. We have a poodle/bichon named Biscuit Butter. I love to teach, read, and develop plans and activities for my classes. I also love growing flowers and plants. My guilty pleasure is chocolate, Diet Coke and sleep. :)
