I have worked in the field of education for over ten years. I have been a private tutor, a curriculum writer, an inner-city Reading and ELA teacher, a debate coach, a soccer coach, and a softball coach. Currently I teach ESOL/ELA/Reading/Social Studies to refugees (ages 12-19) from South America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Every day I tell my students to think of school like a "Quiz Show." It's a game they can win! I tell them to think of me as their "Vocab Coach." If they trust me and listen well, then it's a "win/win" situation all around.
Shining Moments: Hearing from past students when they "rock" on the SAT test or get accepted into college. Being invited to my (past/present) students' soccer games or music recitals.
BS in Liberal Arts, Central Michigan University and an MA in English Literature, Central Michigan University
When I am not teaching, I enjoy roller blading, hiking, reading, and playing with my two rescue dogs.
