A former classroom teacher of six years, I've spent the last four years as a learning specialist focused on remediation and learning differences for students in K-12th grades. I also provide Professional Development and support to teachers around best practices for reaching all students. I have extensive training in Orton-Gillingham, a multi-sensory approach for teaching reading and spelling that is especially effective for dyslexic students. I also work with many students with low math skills, reading comprehension and writing difficulties, and Executive Functioning deficiencies. My students help me perfect every resource in my store!
Since all my students are typically at least one grade level behind in the subjects we work on together, my focus is on creating a positive, comfortable environment where they feel motivated and supported. I often use games to provide a fun, multi-sensory experience, allowing students to open up and apply what they have learned.

I currently live in Oakland, CA, which is beautiful mix of ocean, hills, art and culture. We have some of the best food and weather, even if our sports teams aren't number one as often as we'd like. When I'm not teaching, I'm either reading, watching British television or studying Spanish on Duolingo.
