TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching at the middle school level for the past twelve years. Prior to teaching I worked for a large corporation. Many of my roles in the corporate sector were related to training adults on new computer systems. It was disheartening to see so many adults struggle with reading and writing skills that are needed as we become a more technological society.The desire to see people have the opportunity to succeed lead me to a second career as a teacher.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Currently, I am teaching language arts to seventh graders. My classroom is one filled with constructive noise. Students are encouraged to be creative and think for themselves. The quote from The Little Prince demonstrates a balance between the structure of Common Core and Smarter Balance testing with continuing to infuse creativity into the classroom.
