I have six years experience as a Social Studies teacher within low-income and high-crime communities. I currently teach United States History. I also have experience teaching AP World History, Cultural Geography, World History, Economics, and American Government.
I know the struggles teachers face with teaching the "whole child" in high-risk and low-income areas. As such, I understand the importance of being more than a "teacher". In addition to being an educator, I am also a counselor, a "mother", an "aunt", a confidant, a mentor, and a caregiver. I believe in setting high expectations for student achievement and equipping students with the tools they need to be successful in my class, as well as in LIFE. I believe in hands-on learning and that we, as teachers, should never succumb to "teacher burn-out" because the students should be the ones doing all the work!
