TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Welcome friends! I have been in education for many years teaching in both elementary and special education. I also taught for 5 years in Japan. I currently am a Reading Specialist.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to think of creative ways for my students to learn. I try to inspire creativity and a love of learning in my students.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I love to write grants for my classroom. My biggest grant was receiving a SMART Board from the SMARTer Kids Foundation. To receive this grant I conducted a research study to show how a SMARTBoard motivates students in math. I also received 2 classroom grants from Honeywell as well as 13 technology grants from my school district. However, the biggest honors and awards I receive are from the feedback from my students.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Southern Illinois University- MS in education

I am married with 4 children and a dog named Sushi! He is named after our time spent in Japan. We would love to go back and live in Japan someday.
