TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have successfully taught grade 5 for 11 years in all subject areas in Dallas, Texas. I have recently completed Reading Recovery Training at Ashland University. I have successfully taught Reading Recovery for 1st grade and Title 1 for 3rd grade in Ohio schools for 2 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach using engaging activities, connect real-world examples, use mini-lessons and small group instruction to guide students toward success.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education Award from Ohio Valley University in 2003 Medal of Merit Award for Elementary Education from Ohio Valley University in 2008. National Alpha Chi Honor Society Member since 2002. Nominated twice for STAR Teacher in Richardson ISD, in Richardson Texas.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduated from Ohio Valley University in 2003 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Graduated from Lamar University in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership and Instructional Specialist. Received certification as ESL teacher in 2008 in Dallas, TX. Received certification as Reading Recovery Teacher from Ashland University in 2015.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I grew up in rural Amish country in Ohio, moved to Richardson, Texas to teach and lived there 11 years. I recently moved back to my hometown to teach in the local school district that I grew up in.
