TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 6th grade Language Arts for two years at a small, rural school. I will begin my third year at a larger city school. I will be teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies in an elementary school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in focusing my energy on loving my students and getting to know them. Curriculum comes second. I believe that we can have all of the fancy worksheets and activities and try to be the best teacher, but our students won't learn anything of real value because we didn't take the time to invest in them. True adventure is found in the daily joy of loving and interacting with our students and showing them their amazing potential. And laughing a lot together. I provide differentiated instruction and have always worked in an inclusion classroom. I am currently implementing Fountas & Pinnell and being coached through their literacy program this year. I use Formative Instructional Practices in my classroom. I try my best to make my materials relatable to my specific group of students every year, but I make them universal so that they can be shared with others.
