I am currently in my fifth year of teaching. I began my first year of teaching in 2nd grade. Being at a small school and due to uncertain enrollment numbers from year to year, I have been moved around every year. My second year of teaching, I was placed in a first grade classroom and I fell in love with the age of the students and the curriculum. I loved seeing their excitement and enjoyed teaching them to read. My third year I began in first and after registration was moved to third. Then, about a week later was moved to 5th and 6th Grade Science and Social Students. I have quickly gained experience in multiple grade levels and am thankful for the experiences and challenges that came with the changes, but am more thankful to be back in first grade!
I am very energetic and I teach mainly in small groups. We are always moving and work more away from our desk than we do sitting at them.
I graduated 8 in my graduation class for Tusculum College! Go Pioneers!! My fifth grade class earned the highest TCAP scores in Social Studies for our county!
I graduated in the top ten percent of my high school graduating class and was involved in as many clubs and organizations as possible. I began working in an after school child care program my senior year of high school and worked until the summer after graduation. This gave me experience with working with children that has made my teaching career so much easier.
I married my husband James on June 2, 2012 (6*2=12). I wanted a unique date. I have two dogs, Quincy a Yorkshire Terrier, and Cooper, a Weimaraner mix. They are so spoiled they don't know they aren't human!
