I am a high school math teacher and academic coach for the teaching staff at my school. I have taught Algebra 1 through AP Calculus in Los Angeles and Orange County, California! I earned my BS in Mathematics and Master's in Education at UCLA. I have loved serving my school as a department chair, academy coordinator, mathematics specialist and academic coach! Outside of teaching at my school, I enjoy working with the Curtis Center at UCLA where I lead professional learning by sharing modeling lessons and ways to engage students in rigorous mathematics. In 2015, I began to work for Smarter Balanced as a lead Performance Task writer. I was honored to be chosen for such an important role and have learned so much through this process!
My favorite way to engage students in my classroom is through activities where students see how math is used to model situations in various contexts. I love to use applications with mathematics to introduce concepts to my students.
