I have 19 years of teaching experience. Eight of those years was at the middle school level, while the rest have been at the high school level. I teach both English and Family and Consumer Sciences--a weird combination that suits me perfectly!
I believe that preparing students for life trumps delivering content. We want all of our students to be prepared for the workforce and be able to contribute to society. I am fully aware that most of my students won't go on to study literature or be a pastry chef; therefore, I must prepare them beyond the content.

I was born to teach, as much as I'd like to deny that from time to time. First an English teacher, then a FACS teacher, and now both, I have the unique opportunity to see both sides of the education world: the academic and the elective. Teaching both has shaped my philosophy of teaching and has made me more effective and relevant.
