TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My dream to become a teacher began my first day of Kindergarten. I came home from my first day of school and declared to my parents "I'm going to be a teacher!" From that point on I was always on the look out for teaching and learning opportunities. From teaching my stuffed animals to setting up a classroom for my brother and sister, I have been teacher bound for a long time. I couldn't wait to be a teacher. As a young teenager, I was teaching little children at church, girl scouts, and as a tutor at the local elementary schools. Through out college I worked at an afterschool program, tutored at local schools in the area and participated in any activity where I had the chance to work and learn as a teacher. Finally, in 2005 I finished my undergraduate studies and was hired in my home town as a 5th grade teacher. I loved teaching 5th grade and worked with a great group of teachers but after seven years decided to change it up and began teaching 4th grade. For the past three years I have taught 4th grade and LOVE it. My 4th grade classroom isn't the normal 4th grade room either as I teach the inclusion class with one of my dear friends and an amazing special education teacher.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to teach using a variety of styles and through different kinds of activities. I am always looking for different learning opportunities for my students. From interactive notes, hands on math and science activities, to guided reading and small group activities in reading and math, my class is always busy learning.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned my undergraduate degree from Eastern Mennonite University in 2005. In 2011 I earned my master's degree from Walden University in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Teaching is my life. Not much more to say. When I'm not teaching I'm spending time with the my adorable nephew Andrew.
