I have been teaching English at the junior high/high school level for twenty years, and I have my master's degree in Literature.
I really like cooperative learning, and as such, I have my kids working within group settings all the time. I also like the idea of peer teaching, and so many of my assignments are geared toward that goal. I try to have students up on their feet as much as possible so that learning is active and and engaging. Also, in that my under-grad degree is in history, I also tend to emphasize history and culture in everything I teach -- not merely to augment understanding, but so that my students can engage in historical and cultural analysis, as well.
I received several scholarships during college, and I have an essay published in a college textbook. With my bacheclor's degree, I graduated Summa Cum Laude, and with my master's degree, I graduated with highest honors.
Although my bachelor's degree is in history, I have a master's degree in English literature.
I have three adult children, two of whom are married, two granddaughters, and a third one who will arrive in Oct. 2015.
