I started teaching science over a decade ago with 9th and 10th grades. Over time, I ended up in a middle school environment teaching grades 5-8. Here I found my niche, and have enjoyed bringing high school level rigor to my middle school students. While I have taught a huge expanse of material, my most recent and best work has been in 7th grade teaching a spiraled curriculum of Chemistry, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Weather. Most recently, I have moved into the role of Dean of Curriculum and Instruction, working with science and math teachers to deepen their curriculum and expand their management techniques.
I employ a highly visual style presentation style that centers itself around Powerpoints and teaching students notetaking skills. The notes, themselves, are given after series of questions that lead students to the answers through discussion. I believe in walking students through material step-by-step, letting them absorb one component thoroughly before moving into the next step.
