I have been blessed to have a variety of professional opportunities. I began my career in the field of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing where I focused on preschool and Kindergarten aged children. I then ventured in the area of Early Intervention and ran an Early Start program for children with low-incidence disabilities. After a geographical relocation, I began a new adventure with a regular ed public school, where my energies were focused on Kindergarten and First Grade. I have also taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, along with Gifted programs and ran an intervention program for 6th grade students who were at risk for retention. I have been fortunate to hold several leadership positions, such as Team Leader, Mentor Teacher, Master Teacher, and BTSA Support Provider. I also have homeschooling experience with my own boys for their early education and have owned and run a comprehensive in-home preschool program.
I love to provide my students with a hand-on approach to learning new things, but feel very strongly that all children learn differently and curriculum should be presented to accommodate different learning styles.
Graduated with Academic Honors from California State University, Northridge.
I attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN) where I obtained my BA in Deaf Studies with an emphasis on Special Education. I then continued my education at CSUN and was awarded my Multiple Subject Teaching credential and CLAD certification. I am also NCLB certified. I am currently working towards a Masters Degree in Special Education.
I am fluent (as much as a hearing person can be) in American Sign Language and have a passion to make all curriculum accessible to every child, no matter what their strengths or challenges.
